I know because I worked at Enterprise Rent A Car for five years and never saw man trans car. 1. Keep your left foot resting on the clutch at all times. The clutch is the pedal all the way on the left and is what allows you to transition between gears. Knowing how to use the clutch when you change gears is key to driving smoothly when you’re operating a manual transmission. Took about a day to do it. Took about a week to do it right without stalling every so often. It's not hard to learn, I would just buy the car and learn on the car you buy. Best to do it during a non-work day obviously. If you are buying used bring someone with you who can drive manual so they can make sure the clutch and everything feels right.
